Leica Geosystems acquires M&P Survey in the UK.
In March 2016, Hexagon Geosystems, business division of Hexagon including Leica Geosystems, acquired M&P Survey Equipment Limited – one of the UK’s leading Leica Geosystems distributors. Since then, Hexagon Geosystems has provided further investment in equipment allowing M&P to offer guaranteed next day availability on an extended range of core products. The business has also started to roll out the new Leica Captivate TPS and GNSS systems on its hire fleet.
With main offices in Chester, UK, M&P has a strong market presence in the northwest of England, providing surveying and safety equipment solutions to its customers with an efficient, high quality and reliable service. Furthermore, M&P is the longest serving Leica Geosystems dealer in the UK, being recognised as the first official Leica Geosystems ‘Authorised Distributor and Service Partner’ in the UK. The business has an extensive portfolio of customer offerings in both rent and sale segments, along with technical service capabilities.
“M&P Survey has a close and trusted relationship with more than 250 Leica Geosystems users. The organisation has come to be known in the market as the go-to source for premium solutions and reliable service,” said Mark Concannon, Leica Geosystems EMEA president. “This acquisition not only raises the profile of Hexagon and Leica Geosystems in the UK, it also brings us closer to users in the region and increases our knowledge in rental capabilities, ultimately strengthening our ability to serve customers in this area worldwide.”
In a new direction
As part of the transaction, originating founder Les Poole is retiring from the business he formed more than 33 years ago. As such, Keith Ferguson now becomes the new managing director for M&P. Ferguson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having spent more than 25 years in senior roles within the hire industry. He previously worked as managing director of Speedy Survey as well as senior operational roles in the industrial, rail, customer services and training divisions for the Speedy UK Hire board.
“This is an exciting time for M&P. Being part of Hexagon Geosystems means we can bring our loyal customers even more valuable service options,” said Ferguson. “As part of this trusted organisation, not only we, but our current and potential customers, benefit from an increased investment into our business.”
To further support the growth in the business, M&P’s main premises have recently been extended to provide additional storage space and refurbished offices.
